Pearl Street-Downtown La Crosse is where you’ll find some of the oldest buildings in town.  Today, city officials and business leaders point to the renovated buildings and streetscaping along Pearl Street as an excample of the Best Downtown La Crosse has to offer!  TJ Peterslie and his wife Michelle have been catalysts in the redevelopment of Pearl Street.  They started their first Pearl Street business 30 years ago!

Many buildings throughout downtown La Crosse have been renovated in the past decade. Downtown Mainstreet Inc. has helped spur redevelopment. Many businesses are specialty stores that carry items not available in chain stores in malls. Some examples include:  TJ’s, a La Crosse souvenir shop that opnend in 1972 as a boutique; Cheddarheads; The Pearl Street Ice Cream Parlor, coffee and candy Store; and a candle shop.

 

The La Crosse Center- Western Wisconsin’s premiere arena and convention center.  The downtown facility hosts events from Sesame Street and Disney on Ice to Aerosmith and Alan Jackson.  The center completed a $14 million expansion, making it one of the Midwest’s most popular convention and trade show sights.Nearly 300 events are held annually at the facility.
