At the foot of State Street, Hiawatha, a 25 foot, 25 ton sculpture stands guard over the sacred place where three rivers meet, the Mississippi River, the Black River and the La Crosse River. Legend says that where three rivers meet, no natural disaster will befall. To date, this has held true.
The La Crosse Eagle is another sculpture that perches eternally at the park. At 35 feet tall, the eagle spreads its massive wings from the edge of the Mississippi’s banks - its the logo of La Crosse. There is a Spanish American war cannon, coin-operated binoculaurs, La Crosse Area Convention and Visitors Bureau offices and Visitors Center, Riverside USA Museum with exhibits of area river history and steamboat artifacts. Breathtaking views of the River and the Minnesota bluffs in the distance.
Rotary Lights is an annual gift to the Coulee Region as a cooperative effort among the area's Rotary Clubs and numerous other non-profit groups and volunteer organizations. The Rotary Lights Display began in 1995 and has grown tremendously since the time of the fantastic support from greater La Crosse community. Nearly 200,000 visitors per year enjoy this holiday tradition while driving or walking through the park.
